Back to School with a New Entrance
Monday, September 26 , 2016
As the season changes into Autumn it’s time for children to go back to school. Our local school in Langton Green returns this term with their very own engraved stone columns, hand made by a number of the pupils when they came to Chilstone’s workshop.
Engraved Columns
Chilstone were honoured to be invited to Langton Green School for the unveiling the cast stone columns, engraved with the school logo and the names of the children who helped to make them, by our resident Chilstone engraver. The columns are now in place at the school entrance by the gates to make a statement where every visitor can see them.
A Lasting Legacy
The names of the pupils will hopefully still be in place when their own children start school, a lasting legacy cast in stone. We hope they will remember us at Chilstone and maybe we could be lucky enough to have some of the pupils as future apprentice stone masons in our workshop.
Cast Stone Mixed with Excitement!
Our GM Steve Clark said “It was great to see how excited the children were participating in crafting something lasting for their school.”
One parent contacted us to say his daughter squealed with excitement when she was chosen to come to Chilstone. We are so happy that we had the opportunity to share our work with the children and it is wonderful to know that it meant so much to them.
Community Partnership
Chilstone have a long partnership with Langton Green School, who regularly use our grounds for their Forest School. The pupils add an air of excitement to our show gardens and we love having them here.
Thank you to all the staff and children at Langton Green for taking part and we hope you feel as proud of your work as we are.
