Replacement Urns and Finials for The Temperate House at Kew Gardens
The Temperate House at Kew Gardens was once the largest glass house in the world. Designed by Decimus Burton, the architect famous for creating prominent buildings in our local town, Tunbridge Wells. It has recently undergone a £24m restoration programme. Back in the 1980’s Chilstone made and supplied over 82 urns and finials including the Kew bowl. During The Blitz the original urns were removed to protect them. When they were found in storage decades later some had been stolen and the many of those remaining were broken. The iconic urns were restored by hand by our experts at Chilstone and our replicas are still in place today. We have worked on many restoration projects for heritage and private customers, please speak to our team for advice.
